UNTOLD, chapter by chapter. Story festival

Every summer, hundreds of thousands of fans UNTOLD we write together a new chapter in the story of the festival, one of the biggest music events in the world.  

On 6-9 August 2026, Cluj-Napoca transforms again into The World Capital of Night and Magic. Central Park becomes a huge stage, where for four days we enjoy concerts, international artists and DJs, street food, fashion corner and experiences created by the brands that support the magic of the festival, such as Banca Transilvania – the official UNTOLD bank since the first edition, 11 years ago.

THE UNTOLD CHAPTERS

UNTOLD transports us every time into a fairy tale land, with characters and symbols that the Wizard, the festival's protector, are nevoie pentru a lupta împotriva răului, iar la final – ca în povești 😊 – totul să fie cu happy end. Chapter by chapter, what is the story:

2026: A NEW JOURNEY

The griffin is the symbol of a new journey. Legendary creature, half eagle, half lion, born from the desire to explore new moons, it watches over those who set out on the road, opens doors to the unknown and brings with it the magic of a new beginning. For the UNTOLD community, it is not just a fantastic character, but the sign that a new chapter is opening. It is the spirit that unites those who come to the festival to discover and live the story of A New Journey.

CHAPTER #10: THE HUMMINGBIRD (2025)

Chapter X was an anniversary one, in which the character of the Hummingbird appeared. Metaphorically, it was about perseverance, determination, individual contribution. In other words, to bring your drop in the community, regardless of which it might be.

CHAPTER #9: MOTHER NATURE (2024)

The chapter invited us to rediscover the (partially lost) connection between man and the environment, in an increasingly technologized world. The scenes – conceived as ecosystems – and the visual effects created the atmosphere of a forest in the heart of Cluj through the visual and emotional exploration of the connection between people and nature. It was an invitation to reconnect, to appreciate nature. To Mother Nature.

CHAPTER 8: THE LIGHT PHOENIX (2023)

The Light Phoenix was guide festival goers in the transition from the real world to the imaginary one, in this chapter. It symbolized rebirth, strength and energy, after two years of pandemic.

CHAPTER 7: TEMPLE OF LUNA (2022)

UNTOLD stood under the sign of the Temple of Luna. The wizard, the protector of the festival, needed help to save the world and thus had to go through five challenges - Order of the Griffin, Order of the Owl, Order of the Dragonfly, Order of the Stag, and Order of the Firefly. Each order represented a value with which the festival fans could identify – Order of the Griffin – for those who are in continuous experimentation and open to new things; Order of the Owl – for those focused on knowledge, Order of the Dragonfly – for those who want to live life to its fullest potential, Order of the Stag – for those seeking human connections, and Order of the Firefly for those who find happiness when surrounded by loved ones.

CHAPTER #6: THE MOON (2021)

UNTOLD 2021 was a long-awaited reunion, after the pandemic, a celebration of the return to normality. The moon was the theme of the edition.

CHAPTER #5, ANNIVERSARY: CODEX OF MAGIC (2019)

The anniversary edition gathered all the characters with whom UNTOLD fans have become acquainted over all these years, in the first chapters. What is the Codex of Magic, though? A grand book, hidden in the heart of the forest, which, once opened, is the gateway to a world of unlimited knowledge.

CHAPTER #4: WOLF SPIRIT (2018)

In chapter 4 we had the opportunity to meet the Warrior King and the Priestess of Wisdom. He - protector of the UNTOLD realm and stronger than any other being on earth, and she – with the gift of foreseeing the future and preventing evil from making its presence. Their spirit animal was the wolf and that's why they could invoke the Spirit of the Wolf. The two led an army of warrior wolves who, together, protected the fantastic UNTOLD land, alongside Dragon, the character of chapter 3.

CHAPTER #3: THE DRAGON (2017)

A new chapter, a new character, at a time when the balance between good and evil was tilted towards the evil side: the Dragon. Because he wanted to help people, the Magician – already part of the UNTOLD story, from the previous chapter – met with the Dragon, who gave him 4 stones with magical powers: Love, Hope, Courage, and Trust. Through the magical power of the gift, the knights of the time unleashed the force of Good across the Earth, defeating Evil.

CHAPTER #2: THE MAGICIAN (2016)

The magician accompanied the festival-goers who returned to UNTOLD to live together chapter II. He was the only one who could travel through time to link the mythology of the night and the magic of Transylvania, between the fantastic and the real world. Besides supernatural strength, he had at hand symbols such as the mirror - a portal that traces the boundary between worlds; the moon – which illuminates everything that is unseen; and the harp – which can bring anything to life through its music.

CHAPTER #1: THE THREE-HEADED DRAGON (2015)

The UNTOLD story began with the Three-Headed Dragon as the main character, in a friendly version. Together with other characters - Greuceanu, Prâslea the Brave, and Ileana Cosânzeana - they took over the city and befriended the festival-goers.

Did you know that the UNTOLD story is closely linked to Transylvania? What did they say, in the stage once upon a time, the festival organizers, when they announced the launch: Transylvania can be considered the most successful brand of Romania and, through the association with the festival, we want to build in the long term the UNTOLD Universe - the perfect blend between the mythology of the night and the magic of Transylvania. The festival's strength will come precisely from the history of the region. The central characters will be easy to understand even for people who are not from Romania and will combine classic elements from stories with those of our times. We used our cultural baggage, of fairy tales and urban legends, to bring to the forefront several characters from the fantastic world.
