Good things about Romanian entrepreneurship
”Best Managed Companies”, the first edition of the Deloitte program in Romania, a success alongside Banca Transilvania
If SMEs do well, Romania does well. The daily work of entrepreneurs, their vision and especially their performance in business support a strong economy. With this belief and with some of our best specialists, we got involved in the "Best Managed Companies" program, organized by Deloitte for the first time in Romania, in partnership with Banca Transilvania.
Developed globally almost 30 years ago, held for the first time in our country, Best Managed Companies is primarily a growth program for participating businesses. 10 colleagues from BT facilitated, together with the Deloitte team, 21 workshops in which company representatives analyzed the strategic and operational aspects of their businesses.
A few key figures of the program “Best Managed Companies Romania”, edition 2022:
- 21 participating companies
- 9 companies have received the certification "Best Managed Companies Romania"
- 84 representatives of companies participated in the program;
- 31 Deloitte and BT professionals facilitated the working sessions;
- 378 hours spent together, time allocated for coaching sessions.
The program also offers a certification based on a methodology with international business standards, developed globally. The certification validates entrepreneurial performance. The 21 companies were evaluated based on four pillars: strategy, culture and engagement, resources and innovation, governance (corporate) and financial aspects.
9 companies met the ”Best Managed Companies” standards according to the evaluation of an independent jury, after the coaching stage. The performers of this edition were:
- Arobs Transilvania Software
- Celco
- Daw Bența
- Fortech
- Interagroaliment
- Libris
- Lidas
- RDF
- Romstyl
A few insights discovered during the workshops:
- The strong points of the participating companies in the program: strategy execution, productivity, performance remuneration systems, ensuring the continuity of the management team, reporting and monitoring, and financial capacity.
- Development Zone identified: strategy communication, innovation stimulation measures, organizational culture, internal/external brand, governance and oversight.
- In this period of overlapping crises, companies should focus most on the pillars Governance and financial aspects , respectively Strategy due to the structural changes present at the economic level.
Ömer Tetik, IT General Director, participated in the gala and spoke about the growth of the entrepreneurial sector in Romania:
- There are many projects, initiatives, somewhat similar to Best Managed Companies, that look at companies with the largest profits or companies with the largest equity, the highest growth. But these are evaluations where you look at numbers. You do not look at culture, you do not look at story and future.
- What you have provided here is a foundation – how the entrepreneurial sector can be grown, how people can be encouraged, and what it means to have and develop a business. By being an international program, we had the opportunity to learn as well.
- We want this initiative to be much broader. There are segments or clients, entrepreneurs that we have not reached and we need to increase visibility together.
- We cannot talk about culture without also talking about profitability, innovation, social impact.
The first edition of the "Best Managed Companies Romania" program showed that Romanian entrepreneurship is on the right track. There is plenty of room for growth and development. If you are also one of the entrepreneurs ready to #dobetter, keep an eye on the upcoming editions of this program. Until then, you can find below this year's edition of the awards gala:
